49: Scarcity vs Abundance in Network Marketing

Ask yourself ‘what is my natural state?’

Do I experience more scarcity or abundance?

Does success or struggle feel like my normal?

The way you answer these questions is actually really important. They show what your beliefs are. We’ve talked before about the progression of beliefs to results but in case you forgot check out episode 1 of the podcast. We know that Beliefs -> Thoughts -> Feelings -> Actions -> Results.

Common Examples of Scarcity in Network Marketing:

“I just don’t have any builders or leaders”

If this is a common belief and thought that comes up for you, you’re probably not treating your current builders in an empowering way that encourages them to step up into being leaders! Remember that leaders are rarely found. They are usually built!

Stephen R Covey says “Leadership is communicating to people their worth and potential so clearly that they come to see it in themselves.”

If you have this core belief, you might be sabotaging or not giving sufficient support to new recruits and sign ups for them to step up into becoming good builders and leaders in your business.

“People in my area don’t care about…” 

This is something I’ve heard multiple times as i’ve mentored people in health and wellness companies. For example “people in my town just don’t make health a priority”.

Even if overall this is true about the demographic of people living around you, there are always people in your area who are LOOKING for what you have or would be open if it showed up in the right packaging (aka your presentation).

Remember you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink BUT… You can make him thirsty 😉 That is your job as a marketer!

Beyond that, you could choose to see this “fact” as an opportunity. If people in your area genuinly aren’t interested in what you’re offering, it might just be because no one has expressed the importance or benefits intelligently or enthusiastically enough. There might just be a huge new group of people that you could influence for the better as you help them see what you see! You are never limited! There is always abundance present IN scarcity, if you’re willing to look for it.

My area is saturated”

First of all, true saturation just doesn’t happen. At least it hasn’t yet! I am from the state that is widely known as the “mecca of MLM’s”. It is statistically probably the most saturated state for my company as well! And guess what, does that limit our success there? Nope. =) While others complain about the area being “saturated”, we have people there joining our team every single day!

At the end of the day you can choose to be A VICTIM or a CREATOR! The choice is yours.
