Shiny Object Syndrome and How to F.O.C.U.S.

So what is shiny object syndrome?

Shiny Object Syndrome: “is defined as the attraction to objects that exhibit a glassy, polished, gleaming or otherwise shiny appearance. Something as simple as a reflection in your peripheral vision may easily distract your attention.”

So yes, it is very much a real syndrome!..

But what we’re talking about in the podcast today is Entrepreneurial Shiny Object Syndrome. =)

Beware of company hopping

We all know that person who hops around from opportunity to opportunity or strategy to strategy and never sticks something out long enough to both plant the seeds AND reap the harvest.

Be aware of this trap! It’s not going to be joining a “ground floor opportunity” or suddenly selling a “new revolutionary product” that is going to make you successful in network marketing. In fact jumping can really really hurt your credibility and keep you from experiencing true mastery (which takes time).

Commit to being a professional. Commit to learning and mastering the skills you need to master over the long term.

When deciding HOW you’re going to build your business

It can be so easy to get sucked into buying every single “quick fix”, “perfect system” course out there on mastering snapchat to build your business or becoming a cold market recruiting machine! etc…

Make sure that before you move on to trying a different approach to building your business, that you master the approach you’re using.

You see the truth is that all methods out there that people teach, will probably work for you if you master them! The problem is that people jump around from idea to idea and never get to that state of MASTERY.

How to F.O.C.U.S. to have success in Network Marketing

The solution for shiny object syndrome is pretty simple to understand (a bit harder to implement ;), I speak from experience). You need to F.O.C.U.S.

When you commit to a strategy of building, commit to using that strategy UNTIL it works for you. Not just to see IF it will work for you. There’s a big difference!

If you want to learn Instagram to “see if it will work”. Work on mastering that tool at least UNTIL you get one sign up! Then if you don’t like the process, feel free to move on to a different strategy.

But commit to mastering skills before you hop hop hop around.

Remember most people don’t commit long enough to both plant the seeds AND reap the harvest.

Choose to be different 😉
